“Currently the price of eggs is 55,000 rupees per shelf. Prices have dropped since last week to Rs 58,000/shelf,” he said on Wednesday (March 8).
Verawati admits that the increase in the price of egg products in Sinjai has caused people's purchasing power to decrease, but on the other hand, there are quite a few of them.
In response, the Chief Economist of Setdakab Sinjai, A. Mandasini Saleh, explained that, as a result of the monitoring, the price of purebred chicken eggs has increased. The increase in hen egg prices is due to the increase in feed prices and the increased demand for eggs in the market a while ago. This condition is present in most regions.
“After we went directly to the field, the price of this egg skyrocketed due to the increase in forage and increased consumption demand. In addition, many people receive basic food aid from the state, including chicken eggs,' he said.
However, the government does not plan to conduct market operations, as it is expected that prices will remain stable for a long time and will gradually decrease, especially when there are many stocks in the market.
For this reason, he urges the public not to panic over rising egg prices and to continue to adjust consumption patterns to meet protein demand.
“Last week the price was 58 thousand. rupees per shelf, now it has reduced to 55-56 thousand. and we are optimistic that it could fall again in the coming days,” he said. Regarding other commodities, former Party Secretary Sinjai Disparbud said, such as rice, meat, vegetable oil, shallots, peppers and other commodities, prices remained normal.
